Exploring Maginhawa: Kirunch

KIRUNCH

Me and my co-workers had been craving for Ramen or something noodles that is somewhere in Mahingawa until we saw this new Japanese fusion place named "Kirunch".

We ordered:

- Tonkatsu
- Cheesy Tonkatsu
- Laksa
- Ramen

Laksa and Ramen can be good for 2 if you are going to order a rice meal. Their serving are very generous and we really like the food.

The staff was accommodating to us and also she suggest what is their best seller and also she informed us that the Katsu we ordered comes with drinks and unlimited rice that are not indicated in their menu. She take our order and at the same time cook our food.

I like the interior of this place, it may a little bit small but I think the tables and chairs outside are also from them in which you can also dine outside.

I will definitely be back in Kirunch to see how they evolve.

Just a little suggestion:

- Please add another staff as server, she may also stand outside to talk to some potential customers
- Be active in social media have an ex-deal with When in Manila or discovermnl.
- Advertise that you have an unli rice when ordering Katsu or anything with rice

Exploring Maginhawa: Gerry's Jeepney

When Gerry's Jeepney first open I thought to myself I will go there immediately once I have the perfect timing. But unfortunately it never came. Haaay..

But be hold! The perfect timing came! My aunt and cousin went here in Manila for me and to have a vacation.

You will be greeted by a receptionist and ask you where do you want to be seated in the Jeepneys or in an air conditioned room.

Usual placards used by the Jeepney drivers and Sorbetes

Hand washing area

Food

The food was so good, I love everything specially the soup (because I'm a soup kinda girl).

If you want to see the menu before going to the restaurant I suggest to check Zomato first.

Since we were a group of 4 we ordered a group meal which is Cubao.

Good for 2-4 persons
That includes: Rice (plain, bagoong, garlic), Chicken BBQ (quarter cut), Inihaw na Isda (Bangus, Hito, Tilapia),Ensaladang talong with pulang itlog and KBL, 4 iced tea and soup

Ambiance

I really like the ambiance here, very Filipino. They've been playing original classic Filipino songs while we were dining.

Value for Money

Though, we ordered the set/group meal which I think a little bit pricey compared to ordering an Ala Carte meal. I think it wasn't all about the food. Of course the maintenance, hard work and effort given to these Jeepneys doesn't worth any of our money.

Cleanliness

Above mentioned criteria rated 5 stars, but this one I will give 4 stars because when we got to our seat the table had a sauce and some food.

Service

And lastly 3 stars for their service, the server are quite difficult to call. I am usually fair with my review blogs, but during our dining experience it wasn't peak hour, not at all but I believe that Gerry's Jeepney will improve their service (hopefully) because the hype will always cool down if people experience bad service.

I will be back here! I want to try their ala carte!

XOXO,

Tara

Pier 7, Quezon City

December 2016

My friends and I tried Pier 7 for our mini get together and I also what to know if the hype was real. So let me start with my usual food and restaurant review blog.

 Concept

They doesn't have any concept but the things they are using are cute and very unique, for example instead of using plate they used a mini push cart, they also have a plastic ice cube  inside the glass lighting up whenever it touches a liquid which cute and amazing. Also, instead of plate for their burger they're using chopping board.

Food

Milkshakes are good for a sweet tooth like me but it may be overwhelming. My favorite among the shakes would be Salted Caramel.

Chessy Fries for me was not that good because it was more sweet than salty.

Sam Signature burger (6 bite sized colored burges) and Jordan's burger were good! I love how the patties were cooked, not to dry nor under cooked but perfectly moist.

Service

The servers were attentive and also they prepared our food just in time. Also, they implement self-service.

Ambiance

While waiting for my friends inside there were customers and as the time passed by the resto got full, I really hate it when you are in a resto and you cannot hear each other because of the noise. If you think the noise is from the people inside the resto it was not, they played songs to its maximum volume like you were in a bar.

Final verdict? I am willing to go back there just to try their shakes and burgers but I don't think anytime soon because I already knew this place is not conversation friendly nor cozy.

Exploring Maginhawa: Caffera

This blog is short but sweet in fact, I've been wanting to try a good frappe aside from the leading coffee shop. Sometimes you just need to try other things and explore!

Concept

Very unique and simple. I heard their interview in Radyo Negosyo hosted by Karl Balita. Their concept is about cameras and photography. They made sure that the cafe has selfie spots to capture the interest of the customers.

Here are some photos:

As you can see the prices of the Frappes are similar as the other coffee shops and they have the same taste, there are some differences, because Caffera is not that crowded and the glass they are using are reusable tumblers very eco-friendly isn't?

    Camera Lens Tumblers

Another thing I noticed the lights they are using are yellow light, in which very relaxing to the eyes.

    Old school cameras

You may also borrow their books if you feel like reading.

My favorite part of the cafe is.....

The Photo walls!

The photo walls really inspires me to create my own someday, since I am still collecting memories. And I an still looking for a spot to hang my photos.

Here's a photo of the restroom

They still incorporate the photography theme up to the restroom!

Restaurant Cleanliness

I will give 5 stars for the cleanliness and orderliness of the cafe.

Food

We haven't tried the pastries, so I still have reason to go back? Kidding! I will go back here because I really love the place. The frappe I ordered is caramel (my one and only favorite) and I love it! Super!

Service

4 stars for their service but I suggest while waiting for your order you may have a selfie, choose and buy a tumbler or just relax!

Ambiance

5 stars for the ambiance. The place is so peaceful and I think we are the only one who makes it not peaceful because we are all excited to have a photo on every selfie spot we find! Yes very relaxing, you can study, make reports, and even work peacefully here.

Also! If you are bringing a car with you, you will not have any problem with the parking.

I will be back soon Caffera!

Xoxo,

Tara
