Things to do in Iloilo City

This trip I made last December 2015 was actually Iloilo-Bacolod-Iloilo. A very easy and relax tour from a busy and chaotic schedule here in Manila.

You may also consider to go Bacolod, just click the link here ~> Things to do in Bacolod

You may also include in your itinerary the Isla Gigantes.

I will enumerate all the things that I've done in Iloilo, also add other activites that I've done before my blogging started and activites that I haven't tried yet.

1. Stroll around Molo Church and Molo Plaza
-Molo church is one of the Iloilo city's top tourist attraction.
    Molo Church outside

Molo Church inside, Saints hanging on the sides are female

2. Walkathon at  Iloilo Esplanade
-Esplanade along Iloilo river. Walk or run from point to point of the Esplanade, it reaches up to Boardwalk (places with restaurants) and Boardwalk is near Smallville.

3. Boardwalk
-Boardwalk is near Smallville and it is connected to Esplanade. There are restaurants and restobar here. You may enjoy the food at the same time the view of the Iloilo river.

4. Visit Camiña Balay nga Bato
Villa, Iloilo City
-They have a Php150 entrance fee, it includes unlimited hot choco and  biscuits. They are open for events.

   Outside Camiña Balay na Bato

The famous stairs; you need to go up on a side ways

They are also selling the hot choco and the mixer (I don't know what it's called)

5. Sight seeing at Jaro Cathedral and Bell tower
-first and only cathedral in Panay.

6. Buy pasalubong at Consing-Yusay Mansion also known as Molo Mansion
- right across Molo church, Mr. Henry Sy rehabilitated this Mansion and turned it into a souvenir shop (Kultura).

7. Lost at San Jose Parish Church
Plaza Libertad Iloilo City
- this church  has the replica of the Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.

8. Have a taste of Tatoy's Manokan
- this is a MUST! If you visit Iloilo this is one of the best local restaurant. Just tell your cab driver to drop you off to Tatoy's. Try their chicken and the fresh oysters!
Also, Tatoy's expanded his restaurant into a resort! You may dip in the pool if you're feelin' hot or you may stay overnight they have accommodations.

9. Chillin' at Plazuela de Iloilo
-Plazuela is situated beside SM city Iloilo and a few blocks away from Smallville which is the party or nightlife place of Iloilo city. If you want to chill, moderately  drink, or eat,  Plazuela is the perfect place for you. We went here during Christmas time, so there are bazaars and cute decors around Plazuela.

10. Bar hoping at Smallville
-Smallville, as I've mentioned earlier is the  party place and the center of night life in Iloilo City there are a lot to choose from bars, restobars, coffee shop, and restaurants!

11. Try the famous Batchoy from different restaurants
-My all time favorite will always be Teds then Decos then Netongs (first time to try it). You should try em' all and see the difference.

Here are some out of the city trip:

12. Visit Pototan during Christmas Season
-Pototan is known for its Lights exhibit during Christmas season.

13. A must see Miag-ao Church
-One of the Four Baroque Churches in the Philippines,  Unesco World Heritage

    Inside Miag-ao Church

14. Retreat at Garin Farm
-Garin Farm has a lot to offer, from Pilgrimage, sight seeing, boating and etc.

From Iloilo you may also visit Antique, Caticlan, Roxas City, Bacolod and Guimaras.

There are a lot of places you can visit in Iloilo City but these are the accessible and easy to go to. Also, it would be more fun if you go to Iloilo during Dinagyang Festival (every 3rd Sunday of January).

Goodbye for now Iloilo!
