Santa Monica Parish Church: Capiz Panay

In case you are wondering how did I get here, we went to Midway in Passi to eat our lunch.  You may visit my blog "Midway Passi" for more details.

So after we ate our lunch we've decided to go to Roxas to have some photo ops. Upon checking with google and I type "things to do in Roxas" there are a really a lot but it will need some time and we have limited of it. So I've decided to try this beautiful church named Santa Monica Parish Church, it was quite far than we expected it to be plus when we used Waze it navigates us to a longer route minus the traffic but scary to think that there are NPAs around the province.

Moral lesson: Don't trust Waze in the province to avoid traffic because there were no traffic! Just choose the shorter route you will get there.

Here are our photos:

             " Church of Pan-ay
Pan-ay originally called Bamban, was established in 157. The first church constructed in 1774 by Fr. Miguel Murguia was heavily damaged by typhoon in 1875. The present church was constructed in 1884 under the direction of Fr. Jose Beloso who commissioned Don Juan Reina to cast a bell for the church from SEVENTY SACKS OF COINS donated by the townspeople. This bell, THE BIGGEST IN THE PHILIPPINES MEASURES SEVEN FEET IN DIAMETER FIVE FFET IN HEIGHT AND WEIGHS 10,400 KILOGRAMS.  By virtue of NHI Board Resolution No. 3,S. 1997. This church is declared a National Historical Landmark."

After our church visit we went to Robinsons Roxas to buy food for our trip going back to Iloilo City.
