Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo

The Dinagyang Festival is a religious and cultural festival in Iloilo CityPhilippines held on the 3rd Sunday of January, or right after the Sinulog in Cebu and the Ati-Atihan Festival in Kalibo, Aklan. It is held both to honor the Santo Niño and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers and the subsequent selling of the island to them by the Aeta's.

I should be ashamed with myself as I always claim in my blogs that my province is Iloilo but with my 27 years of existence I never experience Dinagyang. LOL! Hey! You can't blame me Dinagyang Festival is every 3rd Sunday of January and there are classes.

As this was my first time, I was really excited!!

I arrived Saturday of the Dinagyang weekend. Upon arrival at the airport we were greeted by dancing Aetas!! It was warm and welcoming!

If you want to check out the events schedule they have it in their Facebook account Dinagyang Festival.

There is a Lights and Float parade during Saturday evening.

They even have Dragon dance!!!

After watching the float parade we head to different malls to see what they're offering during the festival. So we went to Iloilo time square, they have this replica of the Thousand roses in Cebu.
Globe has activities they were giving away bottle openers, ballpen and many more. Also, Grab has good offers which you can convert your points to their goodies.

They were rave parties too! But it has entrance tickets. But totally worth it.

The main event of the festival is the Sunday Dinagyang Festival Dance Competition where you can see different groups performing their best with their very creative costumes.

If you want to see live and up close the dance competition, you have to purchase the tickets in advance.

The fun never ends specially during the Sunday Dinagyang night, because Iloilo city is known for the best party/chill city in the Visayas region.
