Pasig Kapitolyo: Wooden Spoon

Wooden Spoon is a restaurant by Chef Sandy Daza

His menu is one of a kind! And he really does take his time to make a description  on each and every dish.

I like the interior of the Wooden Spoon. Instead of fancy chandelier with crystals on it, they attached wooden spoons. The tables and chairs are I think customized for the restaurant.

The ambiance is really nice, very relaxing and comfortable.

What I ordered for appetizer is Crab Pansit because the decription is very inviting and also I am curious what this crispy pansit will taste like and also the crab sauce.

   Crab pansit

I was expecting that the Crab Pansit would be salty, but it really exceeds my expectations. The pansit is crunchy! It is really my type!

For the main dish we ordered the following:

Left: Humba   Middle: Shrimp   Pampango Right: Bistek Tagalog

    Binagoongan

Let me start with Humba, the pork is super tender the sauce is just right not too sweet and not too salty. The banana is giving the natural sweetness on this dish.

Shrimp Pampango
As the menu promise, you can eat theshrimp  from head to tail. And the dip is super tasty. The shrimp gets better and tastier when you chew it properly.

Bistek Tagalog
My goodness! The beef is super tender! I didn't know that bistek tagalog would be a good combination with mashed potato.

And lastly the Binagoongan, I think this will be Wooden Spoon's signature to me, it is the tenderness of the meat. Their Binagoongan has coconut pulp, you will not taste the usual binagoongan which is salty. The flavors are really balance and I like it!

The service is really fast that time because they only have limited number of  customers, also that day is night before Christmas eve.

The ambiance is really good and the light and songs are very relaxing.

Oh and by the way they also accommodate parties and other activites minimum of 30 persons. For more info you may check their Facebook fan page.

Xoxo,

Pasig Kapitolyo: Cafe Juanita

Here's a quick review for Cafe Juanita Pasig Kapitolyo.

Cafe Juanita and Breakfast @ Juanita has the same owner so the interior is also the same. You mean same same? Yes yes! Same chandelier, colorful resto, crystals, lots of stuff and all.

Unfortunately, the best spots are already reserved! (Sigh). So my tips for you are: (1) Get a reservation to have the best spot in the resto. And (2) If you are a walk in customer pick the best spot even if it is reserve, just ask the staff what time will the reservation start. Because they let us choose if we want on the reserved table because the customer will be arriving at around 8:30pm, if they arrived at 8:30pm we can transfer on other table or pick a table down stairs. We chose to eat downstairs. With not so much picture perfect spot. (Sad).

Let me start with my review.

Food

We ordered Kare-Kare and Sisig with Tofu.

    Kare-Kare and Bagoong

     Sisig with tofu

Kare-Kare is their best seller and it cost Php619 it is for 2-3 persons only. I like the consistency of the sauce and how soft the ox tripe or twalya is. There are puso ng saging, pechay, beef, and eggplant.
Do not miss the bagoong! Oh gosh super yummy!

Well, as for the Sisig. I' m not a fan of Tofu. But my friends mix the sisig and the tofu and I don't like it. :(

One cup of rice cost Php85!

I will rate the value for money 3 out of 5.

Restaurant Cleanliness

I like the cleanliness of Cafe Juanita inside the resto, with all those stuff? How can they make sure the resto is clean? And also the restroom same very clean with soap and tissue available.

Ambiance

Did I mention that there is a pianist? He played since we entered Cafe Juanita and as we leave (endurance baby). I really like the live piano. It feels so relaxing.

Service

The staff are very approachable and also reliable because when they say the food is good for 2-3 persons it is really 2-3 persons!! Very accurate right? They automatically refill your glass with water.

Concept

Cafe Juanita has different cuisines to choose from Mexican, Filipino, and Mediterranean cuisine.

But I think Cafe Juanita is more of a Thai? Becuase of the Buddha in the middle of the resto plus the cloth hanging on the ceiling is so colorful.

I will go back here but not so soon to try more of their specialties.

Pasig Kapitolyo: Breakfast @ Juanita

This is a review for Breakfast @Juanita.

This is somehow a "biglaan" because we really planned to eat in Cafe Juanita. But our call time is 4pm. When we got there the resto is still close and it opens around 5:30pm.

Breakfast @ Juanita has a lot of selfie spots!

Even in the comfort room!

We just ordered Pizza Juanita for our appetizer.

    Left: Hot sauce; Right: Ketchup.

Food

Nothing to say much since we just ordered Pizza Juanita. The crust is thin but not overbaked nor medium cooked. I like it! It is really delish!

Restaurant Cleanliness

Oh my Goodness! The resto is super clean! Actually, I am wondering how are they cleaning the resto inspite of lots and lots of stuff around? Isn't difficult to wipe dust if the displays are too close together? Lol.

I posted the photo of the comfort room and it is very clean and smells good! With tissues and soap!

Ambiance

Very very relaxing! The place is not that cold nor hot. And also even though they have a lot of stuff I don't feel like it is messy at all. And Its colorful chandeliers, christmas lights and the rectagular one on the side with diamond shape crystal (i dunno what you called that).

Service

The waiter is very friendly and accommodating because we are not yet decided if we are gonna eat in there, we are just looking at the menu but he gave us water and also fix our table, removing the excess plate, fork and knife.

When we have decided to order we change our table and seat. He again remove the excess plates and etc. Then my boyfriend came in he puts plate, fork, and knife AND he gave him water without  even asking.

He refills our water every now and then without asking.

Concept

I am thinking what is the concept of Breakfast @ Juanita. And I think it is not just BREAKFAST but it serves pizzas and pastas and other food that Cafe Juanita can no longer accommodate.

All and all I will definitely go back here to try other dishes such as pasta (pasta lover here!).
And also take more photos around.
